Question? If your college attending child came to you and said they are in a romantic sexual relationship and they won’t hold out on sex, would you urge/encourage them to put their education first and stop being so lustful, or would you urge/encourage them to get married?

Some people have said :

“Put their education first and stop being so lustful. The reason is loves come and go, but an education is soooo important not only for themselves, but also it will open up many doors to possible relationships with people that are equally yoked. Marrying someone for the sake of being able to have sex openly is just stupid.”

“Put your education first.  the importance of sex can come later.”

But  what if they tell you they believe that they are called to be a wife and a stay at home mother? What if your child keeps attempting to hold out and keeps falling? A four year married college student beats a four-year fornicator in God’s eyes. To be honest, how many people actually wait until they are 24-25 years old to have sex? There are a few, and we all wish those few were our children, but the reality is that a lot of them are burning with passion! So the bible tells you that if you can not abstain, then you need to get a mate.(read 1 Corinthians 7) You have to marry for other reasons as well, but you can’t NOT marry (and keep sexing) just because you want a degree 1st. When you take your degree to God and it has 4 years of fornication fails all over it, what is He gonna say?

I know this is a topic that many disagree with, but the truth is if we are really paying attention to what the Word of God says and not our own so spiritual selves, there would be no debate. In a perfect world we would all have our flesh under control and be so patient and holy and wait until we felt all kind of flutters and sparks from the Holy Spirit telling us “This is the ONE!” I don’t read anywhere in the Holy Bible where it states any such feelings or that type of situation. Does God give us conformation, why yes He does. He also tells us to NOT be unequally yoked. Meaning, if both man and woman are true believers God will be their foundation and they can make it through the worst kind of storms! A degree with the promise of a bright and wealthy future isn’t going to promise a good marriage.

So what am I saying in a nut shell? Well, as my son gets older and older I’ve had to think on these things a lot. Have I told him thousands of times about the consequences of fornication and urged him to wait wait wait! I’ve read books, prayed, fasted, cried, prayed some more, got men to talk with and pray with him, and on and on. Guess what…he has chosen for his self what he wants to do, so I’ve had to tell him the other option if you won’t wait. MARRY! Do I want him to wait and go off to college and establish hisself before he takes on all that other responsibility, WELL HECK yeah, but it’s not my choise to make! And it’s not yours either parents. Teach your children God’s Word and pray.

1 Corinthians 7 : 7I wish that all of you were like me, but God has given different gifts to each of us.   8Here is my advice for people who have never been married and for widows. You should stay single, just as I am.   9But if you don’t have enough self-control, then go ahead and get married. After all, it is better to marry than to burn with desire.
